Indigenous Development Policy
JVC Energy intends to implement and conduct an ongoing evaluation of the JVC Energy Indigenous Development Strategy, every 12 months. This strategy focuses on major aspects such as
Developing and implementing plans to assist in establishing a talent pool of Indigenous employees made up of suitably skilled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that are able to integrate into appropriate roles within JVC Energy
Emphasising local employment from local communities for local operations in the first instance and then looking into the greater community for suitable Indigenous employees.
Engaging local Employment Services providers with suitably skilled Indigenous job seekers available to successfully integrate into the JVC Energy workforce. The development of this talent pool involves the provision of relevant information to potential Indigenous employees, emphasising:
Zero Harm and the Importance of Safety in the Workplace.
Support available to future indigenous employees, including pre-employment work readiness training, nationally accredited work role training, literacy and numeracy assistance, and training in cross-cultural awareness.
Company expectations and duty of care obligations.
How to work in a team environment, interact with fellow workers and the importance of having the ability to work as an individual when necessary. This Indigenous Development Strategy is JVC Energy’s ongoing commitment as we strive towards our minimum 10% target of each employee base to be Indigenous where practical.
Our Objectives
Increase Indigenous employment and contribute to the long-term success of Indigenous Australians.
Identify, nurture and support employment, training and business development opportunities and pathways within JVC Energy and its contractor workforce.
Develop and apply “best practice” models of Indigenous engagement and retention to support and facilitate sustainable Indigenous development.
Promote national reconciliation through industrial engagement and partnerships with local Indigenous people.
Achieve alignment with our customer’s Indigenous policies and commitments.
Our Key Strategies
Engage in new opportunities that deliver commercial success to our businesses and
sustainable economic returns for Indigenous people.
Continually improve the service delivery models that support JVC Energy operations, achieved through our training program, effective mentoring and managing, structured employment pathways, and small business development.
Increase our focus on sustainable relationships with Indigenous people and community representative organisations
Employment and Training
Using the JVC Energy Indigenous Engagement Model, we will identify benchmark skill sets required for employment, map these against the skills and abilities of candidates from the target recruitment pool, and identify where an opportunity may exist between the “Benchmark” and the “Identified Gap” to create an employment/ training outcome. For the identified employment opportunity, we will ascertain what training is required to upskill those in need and develop suitable training to address the skills gap needed to gain meaningful employment in the resources sector with JVC Energy..
